Court Finds RJ Reynolds Violated Cartoon Ad Ban

Law360, New York (July 14, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Reversing a lower court's decision, a Washington state appeals court has found that an R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. ad in Rolling Stone that sparked a slew of lawsuits from attorneys general violated a 1998 settlement deal among Big Tobacco and 46 states banning cartoon ads.

On Monday, the Court of Appeals of the State of Washington, Division One, partly reversed a trial court's decision regarding an R.J. Reynolds advertisement in a November 2007 edition of Rolling Stone.
