Alza Drops Patent Suit Over ADHD Drug

Law360, New York (October 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Pharmaceutical firm Alza Corp., a unit of Johnson & Johnson, dropped its patent infringement lawsuit Tuesday against generic drug maker Impax Laboratories Inc. over Alza’s treatment for attention deficit disorder.

Alza filed the lawsuit after Impax sought permission from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to make a generic version of the drug Concerta. Impax said Alza’s patents for the drug aren’t valid.
