Wal-Mart To Create Green Labels Program

Law360, New York (July 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is reportedly planning to launch a program to post easy-to-read “green” ratings on all the goods it sells, requiring manufacturers to provide the retailer with data about the environmental costs of the products.

The company is making the move as a way to jump ahead of possible green marketing rules in the U.S. — and to institute retail standards for environmental marketing on favorable terms to the company, unnamed sources familiar with the company's plans told the Wall Street Journal in a report...
