Hong Kong Slashes Patent Filing Fees

Law360, New York (March 12, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Hong Kong has slashed registration fees for patents and designs drastically in a move designed to bolster business innovation.

Under the plan by the Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau, registration fees for patents and designs will be reduced by more than 80% to less than $1,000.

Fees for standard patents will be reduced from $5,340 to $896, while short-term patents will cost $823, down from $4,070. The cost of registering a design will fall from $3,420 to $940, according to the agency.
