Lufthansa Offers EU New Remedies Over Acquisition

Law360, New York (July 17, 2009, 12:46 PM EDT) -- Lufthansa AG has offered the European Commission new concessions to address the regulator's concerns about the possible anti-competitive effects of Lufthansa's planned acquisition of rival Austrian Airlines AG.

The commission confirmed Friday that it had received the new offer, but did not reveal any details about it.

“The commission will study the offer carefully and is seeking further information from Lufthansa,” said commission spokeswoman Linda Cain.

Representatives of Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines could not immediately be reached for comment on Friday.
