E.U. May Pursue Antitrust Charge Against Intel

Law360, New York (October 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Union’s five-year antitrust probe of Intel Corp. may soon come to fruition, as investigators have said they have enough evidence to pursue formal charges against the computer chip maker.

The reports allege that Intel has abused its dominant market position by trying to squeeze out its only European rival, Advanced Micro Devices Inc. Investigators have prepared a written draft of the charges and will soon defend their conclusions before an internal “devil’s advocate” panel of experts, the Wall Street Journal reported.
