USPTO Issues Patent For Cannabis Toothpaste, Mouthwash

By Kevin Penton (January 29, 2019, 10:06 PM EST) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved a patent covering products such as toothpaste or mouthwash that contain one or both of two active types of cannabinoids, the company that was assigned the patent announced on Tuesday.

The USPTO approved a patent for products such as toothpaste, tooth powder or mouthwash solutions that contain cannabidiol and/or cannabigerol, according to the announcement by Axim Biotechnologies Inc.

U.S. Patent Number 10,172,786, which the agency approved on Jan. 8, will not cover products that contain tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, a type of cannabinoid that can cause psychoactive effects in users, according to Axim's announcement....
