Fire Hazard Prompts Polaris To Yank ATVs

Law360, New York (July 22, 2009, 12:32 PM EDT) -- Polaris Industries Inc. is conducting a voluntary product safety recall of about 4,700 all-terrain vehicles after receiving reports of a valve assembly failure that can result in fires.

The recall affects all 2009 model year ATVs manufactured by the Medina, Minn.-based company, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.

The ATVs were sold at Polaris dealers nationwide for about $9,000 from September 2008 to June under the market names Sportsman ESP XP 850 and Sportsman XP 850 ATVs, the CPSC said. The models were manufactured...
