EU Recalls Kids' Smartwatch Over Privacy, Hacking Fears

Law360 (February 5, 2019, 10:19 PM EST) -- The European Commission cited data privacy and security concerns in issuing a mass recall for a children's smartwatch that officials say leaks sensitive information, including location data, and can be remotely accessed and controlled by anyone. 

The market for watches, fitness trackers, automobiles and a range of other devices that connect to the internet as part of the rapidly growing "internet of things" has exploded in recent years, with IT giant Cisco estimating that by 2021, half of all the 27.1 billion electronic devices on Earth will be connected to the internet.
