Xcel Faces Female Workers' Equal Pay Suit

Law360, New York (July 23, 2009, 1:13 PM EDT) -- A group of women employed as debt collectors for Xcel Energy Services Inc. has filed a lawsuit against the power company for sex discrimination, claiming they are paid substantially less than their male counterparts.

Filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota on Wednesday, the group's complaint accuses Xcel and subsidiary Northern States Power Co. of breaching the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and related state law.
