Another Settlement Offer Filed In Amaranth Case

Law360, New York (July 24, 2009, 1:30 PM EDT) -- Enforcement staff at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission have reached an agreement with defunct hedge fund Amaranth Advisors LLC and one of its former traders that would resolve allegations involving the manipulation of natural gas futures prices.

The proposed settlement, filed Thursday, now needs the approval of the FERC commissioners, which earlier this year rejected a separate settlement offer. The terms of the latest deal were redacted, but the FERC staff and Amaranth said it was fair, reasonable and in the public interest.
