NLRB Panel Highlights Members' Divide On Hot-Button Topics

Law360, Los Angeles (February 27, 2019, 8:49 PM EST) -- National Labor Relations Board chairman John Ring sparred with fellow board member Lauren McFerran during a panel discussion Wednesday over the outcome of several recent controversial cases, including one that reset the board’s test for analyzing whether workers qualify as independent contractors.

Ring and McFerran, along with fellow NLRB members Bill Emanuel and Marvin Kaplan, were part of a panel at an American Bar Association gathering of labor lawyers in Santa Monica, California, where they discussed a variety of recent controversial cases in which McFerran was often the lone dissenting vote.
