Omnicare Settles For $52.5M Over Medicaid Billing

Law360, New York (October 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Specialized Pharmacy Services, a subsidiary of Omnicare Inc., has agreed to pay up $52.5 million to the state of Michigan to settle billing issues with the state’s Medicaid program.

The settlement is the largest Medicaid fraud recovery in Michigan history, according to state Attorney General Mike Cox.

“The abuse of public funds intended to help the most vulnerable members of society will not be tolerated,” Cox said. “This settlement represents a massive recovery of funds for the hardworking taxpayers of Michigan.”
