FCA Directory Will Let Consumers Check Bankers' Records
Law360, London (March 8, 2019, 5:12 PM GMT) -- The U.K.'s City regulator finalized plans on Friday for a public directory to help consumers spot financial professionals banned from the industry and protect banks and insurers from hiring questionable staff beginning from March 2020.
The Financial Conduct Authority announced final rules for a directory to help reveal whether employees hold appropriate qualifications and help companies to cross-check references, in a push to protect consumers and keep unscrupulous employees out of the financial sector.
"This information will also support the FCA, law enforcement, professional bodies and other regulators in monitoring the market, building intelligence and targeting interventions," the FCA said....
