House Approves 6-Month Flood Insurance Extension

Law360, New York (July 29, 2009, 9:54 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives voted Wednesday to extend for six months the National Flood Insurance Program, which was set to expire in September during the middle of the hurricane season.

Not only will the new bill extend the current program until the end of March 2010, but it will also give Congress time to draft new legislation to reform aspects of the program, which provides insurance to millions of Americans living in flood-prone areas, according to Rep.
