USPTO Deals Blow To ACT In Interference Proceedings Over Animal Cloning Technology

Law360, New York (March 18, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- A panel at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has dealt a setback to Advanced Cell Technology Corp. in interference proceedings initiated by biotech rival Geron Corp. over the animal cloning technology that led to the cloning of Dolly the Sheep.

All motions filed by Advanced Cell Technology were denied by the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, including motions attacking the patentability of Geron's claims, according to Geron.
