WTO To Investigate US Ban On Chinese Poultry

Law360, New York (July 31, 2009, 5:37 PM EDT) -- A World Trade Organization panel has decided to launch a formal inquiry regarding China's allegation that a U.S. ban on Chinese poultry violates international trade laws.

The WTO's Dispute Settlement Body announced Friday that it had established a panel to investigate the ban, which was put in place amid the Asian bird flu scare in 2004.

Both China and the U.S. banned imports of each other's poultry at the time, but while China has since begun accepting U.S. poultry imports, the U.S. has not reciprocated....
