J&J Hits CIBA Vision Over Contact Lens Patents

Law360, New York (August 3, 2009, 7:26 PM EDT) -- In the latest skirmish in an ongoing product battle between rivals, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc. has launched an infringement suit against CIBA Vision Corp., claiming that several CIBA contact lenses rely on two J&J patents.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, alleges CIBA's silicone hydrogel contact lenses infringe two of its patents.

The patents-at-issue are U.S. Patent Number 7,521,488, issued in April 2009, and U.S. Patent Number 5,435,943, according to the complaint.
