Senate Weighs Carbon Incentives For Private Forests

Law360, New York (August 5, 2009, 3:27 PM EDT) -- Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., has put forth a bipartisan bill that would give small-forest owners incentives to manage their land to store more carbon, the latest legislative effort to help curb global warming.

Shaheen and seven co-sponsors — including moderate Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine — introduced the Forest Carbon Incentives Program Act of 2009, or S. 1576, on Tuesday.
