Feds To Examine Competition In Agriculture Industry

Law360, New York (August 5, 2009, 5:06 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice and Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday that they will begin holding public workshops early in 2010 to explore competition issues in the agricultural industry.

The meetings will be the first-ever joint sessions to examine competition in an industry that has undergone mass consolidation of agricultural processors over the past decade, creating what some claim are higher prices for consumers and less money for farmers, the agencies said.
