Italy Extends Intesa Antitrust Probe Into 2010

Law360, New York (August 6, 2009, 6:30 PM EDT) -- Italy’s competition watchdog has reportedly extended by three months a probe into whether Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo SpA failed to comply with antitrust procedures in relation to shareholder pacts.

On Thursday, Italy's antitrust regulator announced that it had extended the deadline of an antitrust probe to Jan. 14, 2010, at the request of the bank, according to Reuters.

The agency’s probe is looking into whether the terms of an agreement between Intesa shareholders Credit Agricole and Assicurazioni Generali SpA violated competition laws, the news agency reported....
