India To Launch WTO Battle Over EU Drug Seizures

Law360, New York (August 6, 2009, 5:07 PM EDT) -- A battle is brewing between the European Union and India, which reportedly plans to complain to the World Trade Organization about the frequent seizure of Indian generic drugs at European ports over alleged patent violations.

According to Indian officials, border inspectors in the Netherlands and Germany have detained the shipments even though they were not meant to be sold in European markets, and were instead bound for developing countries, the Business Standard reported Tuesday.
