EU, US Officials Set To Huddle For Technical Trade Talks

Law360 (May 3, 2019, 1:56 PM EDT) -- Senior European Union and U.S. officials will gather in Washington, D.C., next week for the first round of technical-level talks since Brussels got the formal green light to negotiate a new trade deal with the U.S. last month.

While the two governments are now set to begin negotiating in earnest, there is still a deep rift regarding the scope of the talks. With that in mind, the European Commission said next week’s session is likely to focus on the less thornier area of regulatory cooperation, where the two sides will look to identify overlaps in their respective testing and licensing systems...
