Sen. Dems Want Climate Bill To Protect Manufacturers

Law360, New York (August 10, 2009, 4:31 PM EDT) -- Ten Senate Democrats have sent a letter to President Barack Obama saying they would find it “extremely difficult” to support a climate bill that did not include a border adjustment mechanism, sufficient allowances to energy-intensive industries and other measures to protect American manufacturing.

The lawmakers, who come from Midwestern and Eastern states with a heavy manufacturing presence, said any legislation must not only address the crisis of climate change but also prevent the export of jobs.
