6 Highlights As Trump Demands Drug Prices In TV Ads

Law360 (May 8, 2019, 9:51 PM EDT) -- The Trump administration on Wednesday said that televised pharmaceutical advertisements must divulge pricing information, waving off challenges to its legal authority and delivering one of its splashiest actions on drug prices.

With its final rule, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services spliced segments of transparency into the pharmaceutical industry’s $4 billion in annual television advertising. The hope is that drugmakers will be chastened into moderating sticker prices that have climbed to dizzying heights in recent years.

"If you’re ashamed of your drug prices, change your drug prices," Alex Azar, secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, told reporters...
