Watson Recalls Fentanyl Patches Due To Leak Risk

Law360, New York (August 10, 2009, 9:11 PM EDT) -- Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. has recalled one lot of its Fentanyl Transdermal System painkiller patches after finding that some patches in the lot leaked fentanyl gel, which can cause respiratory depression or death on direct contact.

Watson said Friday that only a “small number” of patches in the lot had been found to leak, and that no serious injuries had been reported. The recalled lot was shipped to customers between April 2 and May 20, and had an expiration date of February 2011, Watson said.
