Union Pacific, Pumpelly Settle La. Oil Spill Fight

Law360, New York (August 11, 2009, 5:49 PM EDT) -- Union Pacific Railroad Co. has reached a settlement with Pumpelly Oil Co. LLC, ending three years of litigation over claims that Pumpelly spilled oil and gasoline on land in Lousiana owned by the railroad operator.

The two companies filed a joint motion for dismissal with prejudice Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, saying that they had reached a settlement of all claims between them and wanted the case dismissed with each side to bear its own costs.
