Senate OKs Contentious Trump Pick For La. Trial Court
Law360 (May 16, 2019, 4:13 PM EDT) -- Senate Republicans confirmed Wendy Vitter to a Louisiana federal court seat on Thursday, clearing another one of President Donald Trump's judicial nominees over heated Democratic opposition, this time driven by her views on abortion and other social issues.
In a mostly party-line 52-45 vote, the Senate confirmed Vitter to the Eastern District of Louisiana, the latest in a string of Trump appellate and district court nominees confirmed in the last week and a half.
