Attorney General Can Investigate UnitedHealth's Options

Law360, New York (October 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Minnesota judge ruled on Tuesday that the state’s attorney general is allowed to investigate UnitedHealth Group for its stock options practices, despite numerous other similar pending investigations into the health insurer.

The health insurer failed to effectively argue that a state investigation would interfere with other investigations into allegations of backdating at the company, and Judge David Higgs of Ramsey County District Court ruled that the investigation could proceed.
