Ex-BigLaw Atty Launches Suit Over Nixed Lewdness Charge
Law360 (May 20, 2019, 8:59 PM EDT) -- The former Hughes Hubbard partner charged last year with exposing himself in an Equinox steam room launched a $10 million defamation and negligence suit on Monday in New York state court against the gym and his accuser, saying the allegations have continued to damage his reputation even after the case was dropped.
Steven Hammond, an attorney specializing in international arbitration and litigation, alleges that Equinox violated its own protocols when it invoked its "zero tolerance" policy to swiftly cancel his membership before investigating the allegations and that it failed to take corrective action once the case against him fell apart....
