Ex-Lawyers Get 20, 25 Years In Fen-Phen Fraud Case

Law360, New York (August 17, 2009, 7:21 PM EDT) -- Two disbarred Kentucky lawyers have reportedly received 20- and 25-year prison sentences, respectively, for allegedly defrauding clients out of tens of millions of dollars of the 2001 fen-phen class action settlement.

Judge Danny Reeves of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky also ordered that Shirley Cunningham and William Gallion pay $127 million in restitution to their victims and surrender $30 million to the government, the Louisville, Ky.-based Courier-Journal has reported.
