US, Switzerland Sign Deal On UBS Account Details
Law360 (August 19, 2009, 1:29 PM EDT) -- The U.S. and Swiss governments have finalized a deal to disclose details about 4,450 UBS AG accounts belonging to U.S. citizens suspected of concealing assets in Swiss UBS banks, resolving a long-running international tax dispute between the two governments.
The U.S. Department of Justice and Internal Revenue Service announced Wednesday that they had reached an agreement with the Swiss government that would provide the U.S. with virtually all UBS accounts of interest named in a John Doe summons filed against UBS in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on June 30.
