Best Buy, Webroot Sued Over Online Backup Patent

Law360, New York (August 19, 2009, 3:36 PM EDT) -- Network Backup Corp. has hit Best Buy Co. Inc., EMC Corp., Webroot Software Inc. and several other technology companies with a patent infringement lawsuit over technology for backing up computer data over the Internet.

Longview, Texas-based NBC filed the complaint Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, accusing Best Buy and the other defendants, which include AllMyData Inc., NetMass Inc. and OfficeWare Corp., of infringing a patent covering the computer data backup program.
