Kroes Prepares To Wage War Against Cartels

Law360, New York (October 13, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Union’s competition commissioner said the regulator plans to use steeper fines and other deterrents to fight against cartels.

“We are only just getting started in this latest campaign in our permanent crackdown on cartels to protect European consumers and business by promoting fair competition between companies,” Commissioner Neelie Kroes said during an antitrust conference on Friday.
