Toyota Recalls Close To 690,000 Cars Made In China

Law360, New York (August 24, 2009, 6:35 PM EDT) -- Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling nearly 690,000 cars in China because of concerns that an apparent defect in the driver's side window controls could lead to an internal short circuit, China's quality watchdog has said.

The recall includes Camry, Corolla, Yaris and Vios models made at two of the company's joint ventures, Guangzhou Automobile Toyota Motor Co. Ltd. and Tianjin FAW Toyota Automobile Co. Ltd.

The largest chunk of vehicles involved in the recall are 384,736 Camry models made between May 2006 and December 2008, according...
