Estee Lauder Steps Up Fight Over Cosmetic Kit Duties

Law360, New York (August 26, 2009, 2:42 PM EDT) -- Cosmetics giant Estee Lauder Inc. has filed an amended complaint in its suit with the U.S. government over customs duties, asking the court to allow the company to import cosmetic kits without paying any tariffs.

Estee Lauder told the U.S. Court of International Trade on Tuesday that it was improper for the U.S. to assess customs duties on individual items within the cosmetic kits and that the entire kits should be classified as one product that is duty free.
