Chinese Lawmakers Back Climate Change Efforts

Law360, New York (August 27, 2009, 2:39 PM EDT) -- Chinese legislators reportedly approved a resolution Thursday agreeing to push forward with efforts to combat climate change, nearly 100 days ahead of a global climate summit.

The Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress, China's top legislature, approved a resolution Thursday to “actively deal with climate change,” according to the official Chinese news agency Xinhua, but gave no specific details.

The resolution, approved at the end of a four-day session, also says that China will “continue constructively participating” in international climate change negotiations.
