FDA Unveils New Graphic Warnings For Cigarette Packs
Law360 (August 15, 2019, 10:50 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday released a congressionally mandated new rule requiring graphic, full-color warning images on cigarette packs and tobacco advertisements.
One of 13 warning images the new FDA rule will require on all packages of cigarettes.
The proposed rule requires color graphics showing the negative health consequences of smoking on cigarette packs and advertisements, along with warning statements. These new cigarette warnings have to take up half of the area of the front and back panels of cigarette packs, and at least 20% of cigarette ads.
