Jury Gives Deceased Kool Smoker's Family $1.5M

Law360, New York (August 27, 2009, 6:58 PM EDT) -- A Missouri jury has awarded $1.5 million in punitive damages to the family of a woman who allegedly died from smoking R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.'s Kool cigarettes — a verdict that comes after an appeals court reversed another jury's $20 million award last year — an R.J. Reynolds spokesman said Thursday.
