FDA's Head Of Medical Devices Steps Down

Law360, New York (August 27, 2009, 4:13 PM EDT) -- Allegations of corruption in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have led to the resignation of a high-ranking FDA official.

Dr. Daniel Schultz, who managed the FDA's medical devices division for five years, announced his departure Tuesday in a letter to colleagues obtained by the Associated Press.

Dr. Schultz said in the letter that he and FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg had agreed his resignation “would be in the best interest of the center and the agency,” according to an AP report.
