Judge Rules For Earth Resource Mapping In Patent Suit Over Computer Image Compression

Law360 (March 29, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge in Seattle has ruled for Earth Resource Mapping in LizardTech’s long-running patent infringement lawsuit against its Australian rival over a method for compressing large computer images.

Chief Judge Coughenour of the the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington granted Earth Resource Mapping's motions for summary judgment of invalidity and non-infringement on a complex, wavelet-based image compression patent asserted by Seattle-based LizardTech.
