Kirkland & Ellis Lays Off Associates In NYC, DC

Law360, New York (September 3, 2009, 5:43 PM EDT) -- Kirkland & Ellis LLP has reportedly laid off more than 20 associates in its New York office and an unspecified number in its Washington office.

The layoffs came at the end of the firm's annual associate review process and hit first- and second-year corporate lawyers the hardest, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

Associates deemed “to have not been on track to make either equity partner or nonequity partner were asked to leave,” according to the WSJ.
