Santander Brazil IPO Could Be One Of 2009's Biggest

Law360, New York (September 4, 2009, 3:44 PM EDT) -- Banco Santander SA, a Brazilian subsidiary of Spanish Banco Santander SA, has filed for an initial public offering that could reportedly exceed $5 billion.

Santander's Brazillian IPO could be worth $5.6 billion, Reuters reported Friday. Portuguese brokerage BPI estimates the deal at closer to $3.3 billion, according to Dow Jones.

The company filed an F-1 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday, citing a proposed maximum aggregate offering price of $200 million. But the filing did not include any information about the number...
