Competition Key To Success Of Internet Plan: FTC

Law360, New York (September 8, 2009, 5:56 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission has weighed in on the debate over the National Broadband Plan, saying a two-pronged approach of low barriers to market entry and strong consumer protections will help encourage competition in the market for rural Internet access.

The FTC filed comments Sept. 4 in response to a notice of inquiry from the Federal Communications Commission, which is developing a plan to bring broadband Internet to all U.S. households.
