Judge Bars Ex-JPMorgan Brokers From Client Lists

Law360, New York (September 10, 2009, 5:27 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has blocked the solicitation efforts of seven Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC brokers, ruling that the confidential client information they brought with them from their previous employer JPMorgan Chase & Co. should be protected as trade secrets.

In a U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky ruling Tuesday, Judge John Heyburn granted JPMorgan a preliminary injunction prohibiting the former employees from using customer lists representing approximately $959 million in assets that they allegedly removed from the company to poach JPMorgan clients...
