UK's Eversheds May Cut 22 Lawyers, 95 Staff

Law360, New York (September 10, 2009, 6:30 PM EDT) -- U.K. law firm Eversheds LLP announced Thursday that it had begun a redundancy consultation in its real estate group that could affect up to 22 attorneys and 95 secretaries, blaming the long-term decline of the real estate market and overall poor economic climate.

The firm said it would consider alternatives to layoffs for its attorneys, such as reduced work hours or sabbaticals.

“Flexible working arrangements may well appeal at this time when the market remains difficult,” said Julie Stobart, head of the firm's real estate group....
