Law360, New York (September 11, 2009, 5:38 PM EDT) -- As part of its effort to step up enforcement of the Clean Water Act and minimize the environmental effects of surface coal mining, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has identified 79 proposed projects in Appalachia as cause for alarm, saying it will review their impact on water quality.
The sites, mostly concentrated in Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, with one in Tennessee, will be subject to “extended reviews,” EPA announced Friday.
