Smiths Medical Recalls Tracheal Tubes

Law360, New York (September 11, 2009, 6:11 PM EDT) -- Smiths Medical has announced a nationwide voluntary recall of its Portex Uncuffed Pediatric-Sized Tracheal Tubes, saying there is a reasonable probability of serious injury or death associated with defective units.

In a Sept. 10 press release Smiths said it was recalling tubes sizes 2.5 millimeters, 3 millimeters and 3.5 millimeters manufactured before September 2009 and that to date it had received no reports of death or permanent injury related to the issue.
