Engineer Sues Canon Over Laser Printer Patents

Law360, New York (October 22, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former employee of Japanese office equipment maker Canon Inc. filed a lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court on Monday, seeking 1 billion yen for his invention of a printer technology, Kyodo news service reported.

The lawsuit concerns a basic technique that enables high-quality printing of images from laser beam printers. The engineer accuses Canon of failing to compensate him fairly for the technology, patented by the company in 1981.
