Chevron, Partners Approve $43B Gorgon Project

Law360, New York (September 14, 2009, 5:31 PM EDT) -- Australia's massive $43 billion Gorgon energy project has finally taken off, now that the three joint venture partners — Chevron Corp., Exxon Mobil Corp. and Royal Dutch Shell PLC — have given their final investment approval.

Work on the project will start immediately since the three energy companies have given the go-ahead, Chevron noted in a statement issued Monday. Final state development approval was also issued Monday at a signing ceremony in Perth marking the official launch of the project.
